DP World Expands Gulf Road Network With 700-Truck Acquisition
DP World has acquired 700 new commercial trucks to expand its land freight operations across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, the company announced on Thursday.
The investment is part of a long-term strategy by the Dubai-based logistics provider to integrate its regional ports, economic zones, and digital platforms into a unified supply chain network. The expansion adds capacity for up to 35,000 truck trips per month, supporting both domestic and cross-border shipping.
The new fleet will service first-, middle-, and last-mile freight requirements for containerized and non-containerized cargo, supplementing an existing infrastructure that manages approximately 3,000 truck movements per day.
"As regional demand grows, we are scaling our capabilities to provide customers with an integrated network they can depend on at every stage," said Ahmad Yousef Al-Hassan, Chief Executive and Managing Director of DP World GCC.
The vehicle rollout follows recent terrestrial initiatives by the company designed to bypass maritime supply chain constraints. DP World recently established fast-track bonded corridors linking Oman's Port of Sohar and United Arab Emirates east coast gateways directly to Jebel Ali Port. Additionally, the company utilized overland routing from Jeddah Islamic Port’s South Container Terminal on the Red Sea to move more than 350,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during recent disruptions to ocean shipping lanes.
Company officials stated that the newly deployed vehicles meet Euro V emissions standards.
"Our customers want certainty, reliability, efficiency and more sustainable supply chain solutions," said Raveen Guliani, Chief Operating Officer for Logistics at DP World GCC. "These new trucks are fuel-efficient, and we will explore green-energy vehicles in the future."
